If you’re here, it probably means one thing – we’re sorry that your awesome app got pirated and your hard work is being exploited. We know how much that sucks, because we’ve been there too!
We experienced it firsthand when our own app was pirated shortly after launch. Searching for answers and only finding advice like “focus on the product”, “piracy isn’t solvable”, and “it’s good for marketing” made us realize just how desperate the situation was…
We kept patching the app, but every new release was pirated within hours – again and again. So, we decided to take a step back and learn how our app is being hacked in the first place: how to reverse engineer it, how to find loopholes, and how to exploit them – everything we needed to understand how to protect it.
Long story short, a year and some months later, an internal tool nicknamed Secretly came to light and we finally started seeing positive results. On that journey we learned that 9 in 10 apps get pirated within a week of official release, and nearly all developers face the same challenges and frustrations.
Amazed by our discoveries, we decided to go all-in and turn Secretly into a full-time mission to help other developers un-pirate their own apps. We’re a “swift”, self-funded team of five, based mostly in the UK and nearby.
